In my previous article I have shown you How to apply LIP to windows itself , but in this article I will teach you how to apply “Language Interface Pack” in Office 2010 and change the display language to Assamese ( or any other Indian or International Language available ). Even though this article is applicable to many other languages, I will use “Assamese” for the example as it is my Mother Tongue.
I am going to use “Assamese” “Language Interface Packs” (LIPs) to change the User Interface Language In Office 2010. You can download any other language you want and can change the language accordingly. First go to the Microsoft Office LIP Download Page and download your preferred language. After download, place the file on your Desktop for easy access.
Now Double Click the downloaded file to install the language pack. Keep in mind that you will need Administrator Privilege to install the language pack and make sure that there is no office application currently left opened. Now follow the steps as shown in the screenshots below.
Make sure that you have checked the checkbox and then click the Button to continue the installation process ( Highlighted area in the above screenshot ). Within a minute your installation will complete and a “Installation Complete” info message will be shown to you. Click OK to continue.
Your Language files is now installed successfully. Now we have to change the settings such that your Office applications ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote ) can use your newly installed display language.

Now open your Office Word and go to the Backstage View by clicking the File button. Now Click on the “Options” button to bring up the options window.

In the Options window navigate to the “Language” tab. Click On the “Assamese” and then click the “Set as Default” button (Look at the screenshot above). Now Click “Ok” to proceed. It will show a “Information Box” asking you to restart the Office application such that the changes you have made can take effect. Click ok and close all the Office applications.
Now the next time you will open any Office application, you will see that the display language is completely changed to your preferred language. That’s it.
Congratulation, you have learnt how to change the Display language Of your Office 2010 to your preferred language.
