In my Previous Article I have shown you how to Set Default Template For New Pages In OneNote. Templates are basically a pre-decorated sample Notebook pages of OneNote with background images so that you can always have new pages that look just how you want them to. While it is very easy to apply templates to new Notebook pages, it is equally difficult to apply it to your existing OneNote pages.
Actually it is practically impossible to apply Templates to your existing OneNote pages without using any external software. So today I will show you , how to do this with the help of a small software called “Template Manager” for OneNote. I will try to explain in a very simple way such that everyone can understand it. This method is applicable for both OneNote 2007 and OneNote 2010, but for demonstration purpose I will use OneNote 2010.
First of all Go to the Download Page and download “Template Manager For OneNote”. There are two versions available, one for OneNote 2007 and the other version for OneNote 2010. Download the right version and install it on your Computer as any other normal software.
Now Open your OneNote application from the Start-menu and go to the Notebook Section, to which you want to apply the template.
Now create a new Page using your favorite in-built template by clicking the “Page Templates” link as shown in the above screenshot. OneNote’s default Templates window will be shown as a Right-Sidebar within your main OneNote window. Now there create a New OneNote page by selecting your favorite Template from the Templates Sidebar as shown in the screenshot below.
After creating the page, you can close the Templates Sidebar but Don’t Navigate Away from that particular Page.
Now From your OneNote Ribbon, click on the “Insert” tab and select the “Template Manager” icon to bring up the “Template Manager” window. In the pop-up window of Template Manager, Navigate to the “New Template” tab in the toolbar.
In that window, check the Radio-Button “New template from Current Page” and in the name field give any name you want and click “Next”. In the next window you will be asked to enter the description for your Template. Feel free to type anything you want in that field and click “Next”. after that in the next window, Click “Finish” to save your new template. A notification will be shown that you have successfully created a new template and the default Template Manager window will be displayed automatically.
In that window, First select your newly created template from the main list and then select where you want to Apply that Template by selecting the appropriate radio-button in the toolbar. You can select to apply your templates to the Complete Notebook, Current Section Group or only to that Section . After selecting these two options, click “Apply” button to apply your selected template to your selected section of your OneNote Notebook. Depending upon the sixe of your Notebook or Notebook Section it will take some time. After that you can close the “Template Manager” Window.
As you can see. your template is applied to all your existing OneNote Notebook Pages. That’s it. I Hope you have enjoyed reading this article. Please don’t forget to share your views using the comment section below. Thank you.
